GNU/Linux & TATA Photon USB MODEM

Scenario Descrition: Configuring TATA Photon USB MODEM in GNU/Linux
Software used: wvdial
Tested on a friend’s Lenovo notebook

Install wvdial
In the terminal, issue the following command
wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

This will detect the MODEM that is plugged in.

Now, edit the file ‘/etc/wvdial.conf‘ as below

Under [Dialer Defaults], uncomment the last three lines and edit them;
Phone = #777
Username = internet
password = internet
Init3 = AT+CRM=1
Stupid Mode = 1

Save and close the file.

Now run the command
wvdial

Keep this Terminal alive as long as you need to browse the INTERNET.
To end the session, press Ctrl+C
